You’re buying a place with home security devices
A new home may come with a security system. All the components work, are hung in the correct spaces, and are ready to go. In this case, just turn on the phone to call and set up a new monitoring contract. A Vivint installer will still show up to ensure there are no usability issues, and they may offer options on an upgrade or two. It's a fast trip, and you can get your 24/7 monitoring set up without worrying about any new devices -- unless you make additions.
The previous homeowners can give an existing Vivint contract to you for a one-time set-up fee to make your life easier. If the previous owners are moving to a condo or smaller home, turning over the Vivint service might be a condition of the sale.
You want to move and take your home security components with you
You might want to bring along your old smart devices with you to your new place when you move. It should be pretty easy to transfer, as modern components are plug and play. You can uninstall each alarm or camera by yourself or call a professional installer to come and dismantle the system. Then our installers will hang the same components -- and any smart items you want to add -- in your new house. The home security contract will stay the same.
